How to Choose Which Wireless Network to Use

  • joinLU: Used for initial device setup when you have never connected before. Once connected, this network can be “Forgotten” as per your device settings
  • LUnet: Standard network for most single-user devices and BYOD (Bring your own device)
  • LUsecure: For internal use by Lamar University Information Technology to connect devices that will be shared among users
  • LUnet-Guest: For guests at Lamar University
  • LUnet-IOT: Used for special IOT (internet of things) devices that do not support typical standard security protocols
  • LUnet-Cardinal Village: The network for use by Cardinal Village residents and is only available in Cardinal Village

For campus users connecting to LUnet, choose your device:

IOS

Apple iOS

  1. First, make sure your device is iOS 9 or higher.
  2. From your wireless settings, connect to the WiFi network called “joinLU”.
  3. Open Safari and go to wifi.3588612.com.
  4. When it’s done you will see instructions on connecting to the LU secure network.
  5. Ta-da! You’re safely and securely connected. Enjoy!

Android Device

  1. First things first. Make sure your device is Android 6.0 or higher.
  2. From your wireless settings, connect to WiFi network called “joinLU”.
  3. Open your browser and go to wifi.3588612.com.
  4. Follow the steps as the wizard guides you through the connection process. You’ll be asked to install the free RUCKUS Cloudpath app. 
  5. Once you’ve downloaded the app, tap the back button. You won’t need to open the app yet.
  6. Here, you’ll want to select “Configure your Device”, which will now launch the RUCKUS Cloudpath app by default. If not, make sure to select it.
  7. Follow the steps within the app and set a password if you need to.
  8. If you’ve done it right, you’ll receive a “Success” message.
  9. Ta-da! You’re safely and securely connected. Enjoy!

  1. Make sure your iMac is operating on Lion 10.7 or higher.
  2. From your wireless settings, connect to WiFi network called “joinLU”.
  3. Open Safari and go to wifi.3588612.com.
  4. When it’s done, you will see instructions on connecting to the LU secure network.
  5. Ta-da! You’re safely and securely connected. Enjoy!

  1. You’ll need to be using Windows 7, 8.0, 8.1, 10 or higher in order to connect securely.
  2. From your wireless settings, connect to the WiFi network called "joinLU".
  3. Open your browser and visit a great website, like 3588612.com.
  4. You’ll be redirected to a secure connection wizard. This is normal. If for some reason you are not redirected, go to wifi.3588612.com.
  5. Follow the steps as the wizard guides you through the connection process. You will probably see 2-3 pop-ups. Don’t worry! These are helping to connect you to our secure network.
